The University of Cape Town is seeking to appoint two Student Recruitment Officers in the Admissions Office, Office of the Registrar, to join the student recruitment team as soon as possible.
The student recruitment section of the Admissions Office is responsible for implementing a student recruitment plan, encompassing a broad range of activities, aimed at attracting the best applicants to the university. In so doing, the Student Recruitment Officer is tasked with building and sustaining strong relationships with both the applicant community and related stakeholders, externally, as well as with all relevant internal stakeholders at UCT. He or she will develop and lead the implementation of the annual plan in accordance with the broader recruitment objectives of the university.
Requirements for the position:
- A tertiary qualification (NQF level 6) in the field of marketing/communication/education
- at least 5 years of relevant work experience in the broader education sector
- a sound understanding of the higher education landscape in South Africa
- strong organisational skills
- highly developed communication abilities, with strong and demonstrable public speaking skills
- Sound computer literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite
- a valid driver’s licence
- a willingness to work outside of normal working hours, both evenings and over weekends
Knowledge of UCT systems and processes will be a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities:
- represent the university to prospective students in various contexts
- contribute to the annual student recruitment plan, incorporating a range of activities, such as school visits, exhibitions, parents interviews, individual interviews, tours etc.
- establish and nurture relationships with prospective students
- help, organise and execute campus events, such as the annual UCT Open Day
- maintain strong relationships with schools nationally
- assist the applications processing team with individual processing in response to applications during particular period in the year
The annual cost of employment, including benefits is between R513 345 and R603 933.
