The Department of Construction Economics and Management enjoys an international reputation for its activities in the fields of Quantity Surveying, Property Studies, Construction Management, and Project Management. The Department is home to the Urban Real Estate Research Unit and the Sustainability oriented + Cyber research Unit for the Built Environment. The Department is also home to the African Journal of Real Estate Research and the Journal of Construction Business Management.

 

The Department is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time Senior Lecturer in Project Management to:

Requirements for the position:

  • A four-year bachelor (honours) degree.
  • A PhD in Project Management or demonstrably related field.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant industrial experience in Project Management, post the bachelor (honours) qualification.
  • Previous teaching experience at the tertiary level in Project Management at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Must have the proven knowledge and/or experience to teach the following MSc modules:
  • Total Quality Management
  • Project Risk Management
  • Must have a research publication record in accredited international peer-reviewed journals, conferences, chapters in books or books.

 

The following with be advantageous:

  • Professional registration with a recognized accrediting body.

 

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Contribute to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • Conduct research, supervise postgraduate students, and publish in refereed journals, and contribute to excellence in research at UCT.
  • Participate in the leadership, management and administration of the Department.
  • Contribute to the Department’s social responsiveness by engaging with communities and/or industry through teaching and research.
  • Reside in the greater Cape Town area.

 

The 2024 annual cost of employment, including benefits, is R1, 084 555.
