SENIOR LECTURER

We invite applications for one full-time permanent position in the Department of Political Studies at UCT. The appointment will be made at the level of Senior Lecturer. The Department is responsible for teaching Politics, International Relations, Public Policy and Administration, and Transitional Justice at all levels, and it is one of the leading centres of research into politics, broadly conceived, on the African Continent. We have a preference for appointments in the broad fields of International Relations and International Political Economy, but we are willing to consider applications from exceptional candidates working in related areas of the discipline. We are seeking to fill the post as soon as possible.

 

REQUIREMENTS AT SENIOR LECTURER LEVEL:

 

  • A PhD in Political Studies or International Relations.
  • A proven track record of scholarly publications.
  • The capacity to engage in high-quality research.
  • Experience in supervising postgraduate students.
  • The capacity to teach advanced postgraduate courses.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • The position involves a combination of research, teaching, and administration.
  • The teaching and supervision duties of the appointee will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills and research interests and priorities, and the needs of the department.

 

The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is  R 1 027 040
