We are looking for a suitably qualified person to fill the above position for appointment as soon as possible.
The appointee will be a key member of the Science Faculty Office Finance Team, which provides a professional financial administrative support service to the Faculty Executive, Departments and Research Units.
Requirements for the position:
- B-Com or equivalent (NQF level 7) with at least 3 years relevant working experience;
- OR a 3-year tertiary qualification in accounting/management accounting at NQF level 6 and 4 years’ relevant work experience;
- Knowledge and understanding of financial and management accounting principles
- Computer literacy (MS Excel and large accounting system experience)
- Experience in a large organisation
- Self-motivated, team player, attention to detail, well-organised, flexible
- Experience on ERP accounting system
- Ability to take initiative, exercise judgement, solve problems, and work accurately and to deadline with minimal supervision
- A team player with the ability to work independently when required
- Analytical thinking & problem solving
Advantages:
- 3-year Higher Education finance experience in administration and management of research funds
- Related experience on SAP – 2 years
- Knowledge of internal and external Research funding
Responsibilities:
- Providing a range of high-level financial administration (performing financial reviews, financial reports, reconciliations and preparing schedules of financial data) and support services, including reviewing and approving journal entries and other documentation for processing. Preparing financial reports for external funders and a range of internal clients, and taking appropriate follow-up action to complete tasks
- Reviewing and interrogating project budgets and providing feedback to administrators and researchers
- Monitoring and controlling accounting transactions across a variety of accounting entities
- Providing financial advice, training and support to a variety of Faculty clients
- Filing and archiving of electronic data and records
- Other tasks and responsibilities as required
The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R531 313 and R625 071.
