The Department of Computer Science seeks to fill permanent positions at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.
The Department of Computer Science offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and has a large cohort of Honours, M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. The Department has existing research specialisations in areas that include visual computing, scientific computing, networking, human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence (AI).
Requirements of the job at Lecturer level:
- A PhD degree in Computer Science or a relevant area at the time of appointment. Exceptional candidates with an MSc degree will be considered.
Additional requirements of the job at Senior Lecturer level:
- A PhD in Computer Science or a relevant area at the time of appointment.
- Significant teaching experience at university level.
- A track record of research publications and postgraduate supervision.
- Evidence of active contribution to academic administration.
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach both undergraduate and postgraduate Computer Science courses,
- to carry out research,
- to contribute to departmental administration and
- to supervise postgraduate students in Computer Science.
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is R 974 126 for a Lecturer and R1 207 358 for a Senior Lecturer. An allowance for scarce skills may be offered additionally.
