The Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) invites applications for the three-year contract Lecturer position. CILT plays a key role in advancing teaching and learning at the University of Cape Town, particularly in relation to digital education and innovative pedagogies. This position, which is located in the academic staff development cluster, focuses on:

  • Supporting CILT’s academic staff development activities,
  • Reviewing, designing and implementing CILT’s programme of staff capacity development events,
  • Building and strengthening CILT’s relationship with University stakeholders in the service of the CILT Events programme,
  • Guiding and supporting curriculum development in the support of curriculum transformation and student success,
  • Teaching and research on the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education,
  • Teaching in the Educational Technology and Higher Education Studies short course and postgraduate programmes.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • A Masters degree in Education, Educational Technology, Higher Education, or equivalent,
  • Evidence of a contribution to institutional educational development initiatives,
  • Evidence of teaching experience at an undergraduate or postgraduate level,
  • Evidence of contribution to academic staff development activities,  curriculum development and restructuring,
  • Evidence of research related to higher education, academic staff development, or digital education,    
  • Evidence of experience with analysing data for monitoring or evaluation.

 

 

ADVANTAGEOUS:

  • Experience in research or implementation of digital innovation or AI in higher education

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To play a significant staff development role supporting academics at UCT through the coordination, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the CILT Teaching and Learning Events (CILT Events),
  • To teach on the short courses and postgraduate programmes offered by CILT,
  • To contribute to curriculum transformation and development in the faculties to enhance student success,
  • To contribute to research in digital education, including AI in education.

 

 

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is R 941 184.
