LECTURER: AUDIOLOGY

The Division of Communication Sciences & Disorders seeks to appoint a suitably qualified candidate to the permanent, full-time position of Lecturer in the Audiology programme. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening and developing the Audiology programme through academic leadership, research and education. The incumbent will also be expected to contribute to Departmental activities.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Master’s qualification in Audiology
  • Two years of clinical experience in Audiology
  • Experience in teaching or practice in paediatric and/or adult audiological rehabilitation
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Audiologist/ Audiologist and Speech Language Therapist
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Advantages:

 

  • A PhD qualification or a PhD submitted for examination
  • Experience in facilitating university students’ education
  • Evidence of a publication record
  • Experience with postgraduate research supervision

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Academic and clinical teaching of undergraduate courses in the Audiology programme.
  • Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Maintain own research programme and align this with teaching and practice imperatives
  • Leadership, administrative and management duties at Divisional and Departmental levels
  • Contribute to socially responsive activities aligned with the university’s vision and mission
