The Division of Nursing and Midwifery invites applications for a Lecturer position to convene the Postgraduate Diploma in Child Critical Care Nursing. The incumbent will be a motivated and creative nurse academic who will advance the vision and mission of this Nursing Education Institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, postgraduate research supervision, conducting research and contributing to the activities in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The permanent appointment is to be effective as soon as conveniently possible.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Masters degree in Nursing or a relevant equivalent
  • SANC accredited qualification in Child Critical Care Nursing
  • Registered with SA Nursing Council as a Nurse Educator
  • Registered with SA Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife
  • Five years clinical experience as a Child Critical Care Nurse Specialist
  • Experience in teaching in the field of Child Critical Care Nursing
  • Good interpersonal sklls
  • Demonstrable ability to work in teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

The following will be advantageous:

 

  • A PhD in Nursing or a relevant equivalent, or progress towards obtaining a PhD
  • Teaching experience at a postgraduate level
  • Experience in the use of digital platforms and media for teaching purposes
  • Effective communication in isiXhosa

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Facilitation of quality teaching and learning in the Child Critical Care Nursing programme
  • Managing and monitoring progress towards meeting SANC requirements for students, curricula and clinical sites
  • Provision of academic support
  • Participating in the curriculum development and review activities within the Division
  • Supervision and co-supervision of postgraduate research
  • Developing a personal research focus area in Child Critical Care Nursing
  • Participation in administration and management at Divisional and Departmental level
  • Participating in activities that will advance the University’s mission and vision
