The UCT Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB) invites applications for a permanent full-time position of AV/IT Consultant, who will support, maintain, and manage the audio-visual (AV) and information technology (IT) solutions for all teaching, conferencing, meeting, and other AV/IT type spaces.

 

The successful candidate will research and develop AV and IT solutions that are fit for a world-class teaching, conferencing, or collaboration environment. They will also implement and support multimedia services like podcasting and live streaming. They will oversee the inventory and asset management of GSB AV/IT equipment and manage the day-to-day functions of the AV support technicians.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and/or applications in the GSB AV/IT infrastructure, or personally build small to medium solutions.
  • Manage team resources, including scheduling, performance, and availability.
  • Receive, interpret, and share the weekly function pack, as well as periodic changes to the schedule.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure a balanced workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Develop and deliver expert technical training to team members and GSB colleagues.
  • Conduct regular system audits to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities to ensure that AV/IT systems are up-to-date, secure, and reliable.
  • Respond to incoming support tickets, calls, and emails from end-users promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain the GSB digital signage infrastructure and ensure accurate daily notices are uploaded.
  • Keep up to date with technologies and industry trends in audio-visual and ICT, in particular hybrid teaching and collaboration, such as conferencing.

 

Requirements for the job:

  • A relevant NQF 7 qualification, such as film and media studies.
  • Four years’ experience in an audio-visual environment where hybrid conferences are common.
  • Three years’ experience in a supervisory role, preferably in an audio-visual environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of audio-visual equipment setup and configuration.
  • A good working knowledge of sound and lighting setup and configuration.
  • A good working knowledge of podcast and streaming setup and configuration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills in Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and Video Conferencing systems, such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Excellent working knowledge of common AV and ICT hardware and software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking and presenting) and a strong ability to influence.
  • The ability to be an effective team player.

 

The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R491 709 and R578 479.
