The Harry Crossley Children’s Nursing Development Unit invites applications for an experienced wound care nurse as a part-time Clinical Educator to convenve the Essentials of Paediatrics Burns Care short course in the Faculty of Health Sciences and assist with other short courses.
The incumbent will be expected to support the development and facilitation of on-line learning to nurse participants on the Essentials of Nursing Children short courses. The Children’s Hospital Trust and the THET are supporting the Harry Crossley Children’s Nursing Development Unit to design, develop and deliver a training programme to upskill and support healthcare workers to confidently assess and treat children with burn injuries.
The clinical educator will be expected to actively engage with participants and clinicians who are mid-career registered nurses and other professionals in online and face-to-face teaching, and in clinical practice settings.
Requirements:
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as Professional Registered Nurse
- Additional certification in wound care
- At least three years’ experience of clinical nursing in paediatrics
- Evidence of facilitating on-line teaching and learning
Advantageous:
- Project leadership with experience in donor accountability and reporting
- Experience in enrolling and facilitating clinical learning
- Experience in nursing patients with burns
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to clinical teaching and learning of students participating in ‘Essentials of Nursing Children’ courses, in various ways including development of materials for the teaching and learning platform, facilitating and supporting development of clinical knowledge and competence and providing supervision of students in clinical situations
- Actively enhance competence and learning in the practice of children’s nursing and facilitated electronic learning platforms by engaging with new evidence in clinical education and practice
- Actively participate in the Harry Crossley Children’s Nursing Development Unit (Teaching and Scholarship Unit)
- Active involvement in Paediatric Nursing community by participation and contribution and extending expert knowledge in quarterly Children’s Nursing Educator Forum, and other regional and national fora as appropriate

The annual remuneration package, including benefits is between R 416 352 and R497 306.
