The African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) invites applications for the position of Junior Research Officer. ACDI is based at the University of Cape Town and supports research and training on climate change and sustainable development.
If you have initiative and strong research leadership skills, and you meet the criteria listed below, we invite you to apply for this fixed term Academic Research position.
Requirements for the position:
- At least Masters degree in a related subject area (Human Geography; Urban Studies, Environmental Science)
- At least a year of relevant experience working on research projects in the field of climate adaptation
- Skills in qualitative research and report writing
- Knowledge of the status of research in the field of climate adaptation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit research ethics applications
- Develop and maintain Data Management plans
- Conduct qualitative research on urban adaptation
- Undertake literature reviews and synthesis
- Contribute to project reports and other knowledge products
- Plan and coordinate project activities including workshops, procurement, etc
- Build and maintain networks of stakeholders
- Attend and present at seminars, workshops and conferences
The annual cost of employment for 2026, including benefits is between R620 804 and R720 804.
